A new approach to life sciences law

Newly formed life sciences law firm Lawford Davies & Co brings together expert lawyers to provide a more complete understanding of legal advice to the sector.

York, 1 April 2023. – James Lawford Davies and Nils Hoppe have joined up to create an innovative new advisory offering, serving the needs of the life sciences sector. Lawford Davies & Co will combine specialist legal advice with regulatory, litigation and ethics expertise to provide a complete and integrated picture of requirements to clients.

The new offering is the combination of James Lawford Davies, a solicitor with over 20 years’ experience in the life sciences sector, and Professor Nils Hoppe, a leading academic in the field of life sciences law and bioethics. They are teaming up with colleagues from different jurisdictions to deliver bespoke, cross-border, and multi-disciplinary advice to clients.

“I am very much looking forward to offering a complete perspective on both the legal and the ethical aspects of cutting-edge life sciences research and translation”, said Professor Nils Hoppe. “Clients in our field have long told us of the need to dovetail these important aspects into more comprehensive advice.”

“It has become clear that in very specialised areas of law, such as this one, clients are in need of lawyers who understand the scientific process and culture. We believe that we are addressing a critical unmet need”, added James Lawford Davies.

Lawford Davies & Co opens its doors on 1 April 2023 and will offer its services both in the UK, with its main offices in York Science Park, as well as in Europe, through offices in Hannover, Germany.
